On May 22, 2019 NJ Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and ACECNJ hosted their 7th Annual Design Summit. This signature event, which brought in over 300 consultants and agency personnel, was an open forum for information exchange, a discussion of best practices and lessons learned, and served as an opportunity to strengthen the working partnership between consultants and agencies. The day was opened with remarks from ACECNJ President Joseph Fiordaliso, NJDOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti and FHWA Division Administrator Robert Clark. Three sessions were held that covered topics ranging from policies surrounding federally protected bat species to drone applications in transportation engineering to dealing with aging infrastructure.
