Doing Business with the PANYNJ

Coming off of an extremely successful joint meeting two years ago, ACECNY and ACECNJ met again early this fall on September 10, 2013 to present its membership with presentations from the engineering leadership of PANYNJ.
This event was highly anticipated for both the engineering profession and authority personnel. The presentation covered important topics including PANYNJ's capital budget, consultant program, engineering design, construction management, quality assurance, engineering management, m/wbe program, and procurement.
ACECNJ had a panel of senior executives from Verizon, United Water, PSEG and NJBPU to discuss the business environment for various sectors of the utility market. This discussion focused on current and planned capital programs and utility infrastructure improvement projects. Speakers included: Jim Gerace, President of New York Region of Verizon, Jim Glozzy, Vice President and Gerneal Manger of United Water New Jersey, Ralph LaRossa, President and COO of PSEG, and Honorable Joseph L. Fiordaliso, Commissioner of New Jersey BPU.
Superstorm Sandy devastated portions of New Jersey. As New Jerseyans, we are committed to rebuilding our State. As engineers, we will play a critical role in this recovery. The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey’s January Membership Breakfast will be devoted to New Jersey’s recovery efforts. You will hear directly from officials from some of the most impacted areas as well as key decision-makers at the State level charged with coordinating reconstruction efforts. Get a detailed overview of specific needs over the coming months as well as various strategies to expedite projects.
Panelist Speakers: Honorable Stephen C. Acropolis, Mayor, Township of Brick, Richard T. Hammer, Assistant Commissioner for Capital Program Management, NJDOT, Teri O’Connor, Administrator, County of Monmouth and Honorable Jason O’Donnell, Member, New Jersey General Assembly.


The Design Summit is focused on strengthening the relationships among FHWA, NJDOT and the ACECNJ engineering consultant industry. The all-day event featured discussions on components of the project delivery process, specifically the lessons learned and best practices gained through shared experiences.
ACECNJ, NJDOT and FHWA jointly sponsored the 2013 Design Summit, on May 21, 2013. The Design Summit invloved several presentations in a number of different subject areas by representatives of engineering firms, NJDOT and FHWA staff.
Topics were chosen based on their strong influence on projects, both now and in the future. Presenter’s explained enabling laws or regulations, FHWA’s role, NJDOT’s role, designer’s role, stakeholders’ roles such as SHPO’s role in the NEPA process, and how the process(es) work including decision points and approvals.
